Police clearance from US

Hi All,

I am currently in US and want to get Police Clearance Certificate.

From what I understand, I need to fill and send out the "Applicant Information Form" from FBI website, along with my fingerprints and fee.

My question is how do I get my fingerprints done? Is there an approved list of vendors who could take my fingerprints? Also, is there a need for state police clearance certificate if I obtain one from FBI?

Inside the US, you can often go to a police station and ask them to take the fingerprints. If CIC wants a state report later, they'll let you know, but just start with the FBI. And don't delay - we've been waiting for more than 2 months to get the report back already!

Are you from India? if yes, you can connect with Embassy.. Embassy will provide police certificates in a week. Not sure if canada gov will accept these docs.

FBI report works and I know sometime you get the report back in a month. However the recent processing times have been slow.In case you do not receive a PCC from FBI before the end of your 60 days , you can write a letter to CIC to state you have applied and are waiting to receive the report.

1. Many police stations will take them for you. Otherwise, look into PIs (google fingerprinting services).

2. You don't need state police clearance certificates upfront from the US. If CIC needs them, they will ask for them once your application is in process.

1) Where can I get the blank card? Is it ok to simply print it on a piece of paper? I read that this should preferably be printed on a thick paper?
2) My wife does not have an SSN number as she is dependant. Do you know what needs to be filled in for such cases?

1. Many police or PIs have them and will provide them as they are used to fingerprinting on them. You can also call up the FBI and they'll mail them to you.
2. You can leave it blank.
