Hi Seniors,

I am an Indian citizen and I recently got approval for Alberta PNP. I have stayed in US for 2 years and I understand that I will need to provide a police clearance from US as well as from India for my federal application.

Anyone here applied for police clearance from US? Can you please share your experience on how to apply and how much time it takes? Thanks.

I am in Canada right now and I already have police clearance from India.

I am wondering how to get police clearance from US while I am in Canada. :(

I am also indian citizen in USA. you will need the FBI clearance from US. You will have to send the finger prints to FBI and they will send you the clearance certificate. It takes around 6 weeks.

Hi userA,

First of all Congratulations on on receiving AINP Nomination. Please go thru below link where you can see the complete information regarding how to apply for a Police clearance certificate. There is clear direction on how to submit your application.

http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/criminal-history-summary-checks

First you need to download a finger print card (please download it from the below link) and take it to the nearest police station in your area. Tell them that you need it for your Canadian immigration purpose. They will make your finger prints on that paper and sign it and give it to you. You have to do the same for your family (if you have a family and lived in USA).

http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/criminal-history-summary-checks/standard-fingerprint-form-fd-258

Once you submit your application to the FBI, it takes from 4 to 6 weeks time for you to get FBI clearance certificate. It may be more in your case as you are living in Canada. Hope this helps you.

Thanks,
Sarayu.
