Hi guys!

Okay, my American husband has spent 6 or more months here in Canada with me, at times--on a "not-visitor's visa," --whatever it is called for visa-exempt Americans... Does that mean for our outland PR app, he needs to get a Police Clearance from Canada, too?

Americans are on visitor visa. They just don't need to apply.

no, applicants do not need to get police clearances from Canada. If CIC decides they want one, they will request it later on. Not everyone who has been in canada for 6+ months is required to submit one, so there's no reason to do it unless it's specifically requested.

Not true. American's are on visitor "status". Having status is separate from needing a visa. Americans are visa exempt, so they do not need a visa to enter or stay in Canada. When they are in Canada after being allowed in at the border, they are on visitor status.

Hi guys , I need help , please . My husband and I applyed for PR in-land Canada in December 2014 , and we provide all documents . I done a medical exam this April and CIC received my result after one week . Today , I received a letter from CIC that I must provide a Police Certificate and two forms 5406 and 5669 . And I must provide them until 2016/07/06 . I don't understand why I must provide a new Police Certificate from my country. More , I have been in Canada for 3 years without traveling to my country for visit ( I'm from Russia) . In this case , should I sent a new police certificate to CIC ? And CIC give me just one month for this and I just wonder about this because it take one month to wait for this documents. :( So , simple means I don't have enought time to do this. And , should I get a Police Certificate from Canada too? Can I explain to CIC that I did't leave Canada during this period and why I need to provide a new Police Certificate?

This should probably be posted as a new topic with a different subject.

Everyone applying for permanent residency must supply CIC with a police certificate from countries in which they resided for 6 months or more from the time they were 18. Since you're from Russia, this would include Russia. So, yes, you have to get one.

CIC provides help about getting police certificates:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/europe/russia.asp

Or, you can use one of these private firms, like this one: http://www.rctccorp.com/police_certificate_e.html

They're expensive, but usually fast.

My wife had to get a police certificate from China. It was difficult and expensive. We just told CIC we'd give it to them as fast as we could, and we emailed them a copy of the certificate when it arrived.

You said you needed to submit "a new Police Certificate from my country". Your country is Russia. You didn't say anything about Israel.

Most likely, CIC wants you to resubmit the forms so they have updated information about you.
