Hi everyone,

I have a question regarding the police clearance certificates for express entry. I am an Indian citizen and have been in Canada since 2010. I studied in New Zealand before moving to Canada. So I had obtained the Police clearance certificates from both India and New Zealand last year (June 2015). I was wondering if the same PCC will be still valid now even though they have been issued more than a year ago? I have not been back to New Zealand or India after I obtained the PCC. On the CIC website it says that the PCC should not be more than a year old but also states that it should be issued after your last visit to the country, so does it mean that the PCC more than a year old would still be valid if you have not visited the country during that time?

If police certificates were issued after you left those countries they are still good. You don't need new ones. CIC website is really clear about this.

Please, read carefully as process for Police Clearance from NZ to IRCC is a little bit different than for the other countries :

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/asia-pacific/new-zealand.asp

Special notes and considerations

Do NOT send your Consent to Disclosure of Information (NZ) form directly to the New Zealand Police Authorities. Instead, submit the Consent to Disclosure of Information (NZ) form to IRCC with your application.

The New Zealand Ministry of Justice certificate or similar is not accepted unless you are applying under the International Experience Canada (IEC) program.

If you have not returned to those countries after the date of your PCC issuance, then it is still valid.
