One silly question:

If I (the principal applicant) lived and worked in Canada for a year, do I need to provide the Police clearance certificate from Canada too???

You don't apply for Police Clearance Certificate from Canada. If it is needed, CIC/VO wil contact you. for fingerprints and they will get the report directly.
