Police Clearance Certificate

While on our honeymoon in Indonesia, my wife went through all the hoops there to get her police clearance certificate. It was dated October 8th, and I believe is valid for six months. The reason we got it now, is that she works in Singapore, and we wanted to take advantage of our presence int he country to get the document while we were present.

We anticipate the completed application to be submitted to CIC before end of year.

Does anyone know if CIC will allow us to extend the police clearance certificate (the Indonesian police said they would, as long as the request was made before the expiry date, but I'm more worried about whether CIC will allow this.

We know we will have to also wait for her police clearance for Singapore, though they require a letter fist from CIC before they will issue it.

CIC will only accept a PCC if it was issued within the past 90 days of their receipt. It doesn't matter how long it is valid from the issuer.

You will likely need to request a new PCC from Indonesia, as opposed to having this one extended.

Police certificates cannot be extended. It doesn't matter too much if it expires during the process unless your processing time is a few years; in that case, it's possible that CIC will request a new one later on.

What really matters at this point is that CIC receives the PCC within 3 months of it being issued. If it's dated Oct 8th and CIC receives it after Jan 8th, they will not consider it valid.

90 days....Okay, we'll have to get the entire package in well before then, in that case.
