Hi !

We submitted our application for PR in 2006 and Police Clearance Certificates were sent in Jan 2007 for all places we lived in. The application is still in process but in the meantime I have a job offer and am getting a work permit to begin working in 2 months in Canada for 2 years.

My question is when they finally get round to attending to our PR application the Police Certificates will have "expired" since they are valid for one year I understand..........(is this correct ?) Since I will be in Canada by then - any idea what the procedure will be ? Will they expect us to travel back to home country and get all the police certification done again ? Fingerprints are required so it cannot be done in our absence. What about a country that I lived in 10 years ago and have got the certificate for in 2008 - can the Police Report still expire when I have not lived in that country since then ?

Should I inform CHC at this stage that I am leaving my home country for Canada on a work permit (though THEY are the same ones issuing the visa anyway)

Hi, This is NOT my own experience but I think you will be asked to submit recent PCCs from your CURRENT country of residence and the old ones from those countries you never lived in ever sice will be fine. This makes sense as in many cases the PCCs reflect the records of arrests ONLY so you cannot be arrested later if you do not live there anymore.
Again, this is just my own understanding.

Good day Seniors. I have a very big problem. CIC requested for NBI certification from USA for my spouse but how can he have one will infact he only have C1d visa for seaman not a landbase job.
