Hi there,

Need some help.
Applied for Sponsorship (outland). CPP-Ottawa.
Sponsorship approved in December, 2012.
Got an email from CPP-Ottawa: They need the original(principal applicant) PCC again .
Did the PCC from the Indian Consulate- Toronto in last week of October and submitted the original with the application.

Now what kind of PCC should i give them
1) Again PCC from the Indian Consulate from Toronto.( Imagining CIC lost/misplaced the original one)
2) Do I get a PCC from India itself ( Imagining that CIC don't accept the one that has been done through the consulate)

# Principal Applicant has been in Canada for the last 7 years.
# The email says clearly "provide an original police clearance certificate from India. "

Thanks in advance.
Appreciate for replying.

Thanks
Arindam

That's strange I got it done twice for my folks..ND visa office accepted it and this unheard of as consulate PCC is official..did you send copy of the stamp in passport too as they give letter + stamp. Request PCC again with a letter asking to write that this is official PCC
It will be hell for you to get one from India btw

Thanks user828,

Yes I send the letter(original) and the stamp(photocopy of the passport page).
Called CIC they said I did everything right.

You can get it from the Indian Consulate from Toronto. "provide an original police clearance certificate from India. " does not mean that one should go to India and get it done there. It means, get it from a Indian Govt Official. PCC issued by Consulate (Ministry of External Affairs) is considered as a valid PCC by CIC.

It is possible that CIC has not misplaced it but deemed the PCC expired after 6 months. PCCs do have a validity period. Alternatively, check the email, does it say get new PCC if the last one was issued earlier than X date? Or do they just say get another PCC from India?

Do not go through this route, even though you can. Its messy, takes a long time and would add further stress on your mind. Besides, as far as CIC is concerned, PCC from either the consulate or from India would not make any difference.

Thank for replying.
this is what the email says:
"This is in reference to your application for permanent residence in Canada. In order for us to continue the processing of your application, we require the following documents:

Ø Police Certificate: From each country/state where the residence period has been six months or longer since the age of 18, provide an original police clearance certificate from India. "

I emailed them back but no reply yet.

Did the PCC on 25th October, 2012
Application received by CIC on 7th December,2012.
Sponsorship approved on 21st December, 2012.

Now the question is with the timeline of the application process until CIC issue visa ( which is 7-8 months) and if a PCC expires in 6 months then within an "APPLICATION PROCESS" one has to do a PCC 2(two) times regardless. may be this the reason. can it be?

My folks PCC was less than 6 months, yet they asked us for "Updated PCC" so it could very well be that they need newer PCC

SO after sending an email on sunday , they replied today "disregard the last email of PCC request, your PCC from India is on file.
