Hello all,

Similar doubts on PCC have been asked, but I would like to know for my scenario in particular.

Primary Applicant (me):
Since I turned 18 (in 2008), I have stayed in Bangalore - city (Karnataka - state, India).
Except in 2013, for 7 months I stayed and worked in Hyderabad - city (AP/Telangana - state, India).
Starting from 11-March-2017, I'll be relocating to Hyderabad.

Total cities = 2, states = 2, country = 1

Secondary Applicant (wife):
Since she turned 18, she has been in Chennai - city (Tamil Nadu - state, India) for her studies.
Then in Mayavaram - city (Tamil Nadu - state, India) for her studies.
Now with me in Bangalore and relocating with me to Hyderabad.

Total cities = 4, states = 3, country = 1

I have time till May 31st 2017 to submit my ITA application.

Please tell me whether do my wife and I have to get ONLY ONE PCC for India or ONE EACH for EVERY CITY we lived in?
The addresses in our passports are different from where we reside at the moment.

Thanks!

EDIT:
From this link:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/pdf/PC_LetterA_e.pdf
Canada Immigration requires the person named below to obtain an original police certificate for every country where he or she has lived for six months or longer since the age of 18.

One country one PCC. Get it done from your nearest Passport Seva Kendra (PSK)

So yes, what sushsmart15 said! You need a federal/country level PCC unless IRCC tells you otherwise.

If you follow the instructions here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/asia-pacific/india.asp

I believe what sushsmart15 is saying is basically the last part:

For all residents of India: You can apply for a Police Clearance Certificate from the Passport office on the Passport India website. The website will list what information and documents you need.
Good luck!

Thanks for your replies. After submitting the ITA form, the Upload form got opened and this is what is says for me AND my wife.

What is the meaning of Multiple?

For me:
Not Provided
Police Certificates (Multiple) (required) Instructions
Upload File

For wife:
Not Provided
Police Certificates (Multiple) (required) Instructions
Upload File

By clicking the Instructions icon, I got the following info:
You must provide a police certificate for every country, region or territory, other than Canada, in which you have spent 6 months or more. A police certificate is a copy of your criminal record, or a declaration of the absence of any criminal record.

Example: If you visited, worked or lived in a country for two months, left for a few years, then returned for four months, that counts as spending six months there. In this case, you would need a certificate.

Police certificates are different in each country and territory and may be called police clearance certificates, good conduct certificates, judicial record extracts, etc. They are issued by police authorities or government departments and used by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to determine a person’s admissibility to enter Canada.

Certain countries will not issue a police certificate, or provide the certificate directly to you. If this applies to you please provide a letter of explanation in lieu of a police certificate.

You will be advised if you are required to obtain a police certificate for Canada.

Police certificates need to be a scan of the original police certificate(s) in color. Certified true copies, unauthorized copies, or visibly altered police certificates are unacceptable and will result in the application being rejected as incomplete.

Once you have applied for a Police Certificate from a country, it is beneficial to upload evidence that you have applied in order to ensure that your application is not rejected as incomplete (examples of proof might include payment receipts, tracking numbers, etc.)

When it says multiple it means it CAN be more than one DOC that you need to upload, it doesn't mean that you necessarily need to upload multiple docs. I think you find that for PCCs and IDs it will always say multiple (as a candidate may have more that one ID/Passport and may need to provide more that one PCC).

Anyway, you're quite right that you ONLY need to upload you PCC from India.

CIC's website (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/intro.asp) states:

Police certificates must be a scan of the original certificate(s) in colour. Certified true copies or unauthorized copies will not be accepted and will result in your application being rejected.
But in Bangalore's Passport Seva Kendra, they gave 2 Black & White copies. The only color was the green ink signature of the officer. Will this be accepted?

This is what everyone gets from the PSK centre. You must upload scan copy of this PCC itself.

Has there been anyone in the forum from India who has successfully received the Immigration visa by submitting this Black and White PCC?
