Hi,

I am doing an outland visa spousal application. Can anybody let me know if I have to submit the police check and medical when I apply OR do I apply and then wait for the authorities to notify me to go and obtain a police check and or medical examination.

Bit confused about this...I was going to book a medical examination but stopped at the last minute because I thought that this might have to be done AFTER I submit my application on request by the visa authorities...

If anyone can verify with certainty I would appreciate that.

thanks

yes you need to do both before you submit your application, you will include original Police check with your application and a receipt given by your medical examiner
when your application has transferred to your local Canadian high commission after sponsorship approval, your visa office will request the medical exam report from the medical examiner!

I will suggest you to get both done when you are ready to submit your application

it dependes on where u are from. What u need to submit forsure is the medical examination. The police checks depend on the country u are from. Go to the CIC website and see which specific procedures need to be followed according to your country.

When they are ready for your police check and medicals they will let you know...dont get them now as they expire in 6 months so if they dont ask for them it will be money spent for nothing and you'll just have to pay to get them done again. good luck.

Bad advice.

Typically for overseas sponsorships of spouses, you need to include the police check with the application package. The only exceptions are if your country of citizenship will not provide it without the CIC file number. Check the Canadian embassy in the country where your application will be processed to see if they have this exception.

rjessome is absolutely right. each office/region has slightly different requirements due to local differences. You find the specific requirements and the process here:

actually i was told by CIC that the medicals done by DMP in most of the countries are good for up to 1 year
