Police / character record, what is required?

We have the ITA, do we need to submit the application before we get the police check, is there some kind of special procedure, or any kind of record check is OK? Need to know because my wife wants to travel and we don't have money to keep flying around to get papers all the time.

You must include PCC (Police clearance certificate) at the time of submitting your complete application. Your application will not be complete without it.
It's a criminal record check certificate issued by police authority in the country.
