Police Certification clarification

I know has been asked many times, but I need clarification.

I applied for my police certification back in February because I honestly thought we'd be further along in the process by now...
I applied for both state and FBI. I received my state about three days later, FBI in April.

Are they good for three months or a year? I thought (and I guess I shouldn't do that, haha) they would be good for a year, like the medical but I was reading last night that they are only good for three months?

Should I resubmit for them again? State should be easy to get. FBI on the other hand..... :-[

Police certificates are valid for three months. They must be no more than three months old when they are received by CIC.

When do you plan to submit your application?

I was planning on mailing my documents to my sponsor sometime this week but I'm not sure when he'll send out the whole thing. Should I go ahead and send it and if he sends the expired would it hurt us?

Only the state certs will be expired - the FBI will be fine - right? If so, I would send as is.

I'm having the same confusion as well. I'm a Canadian citizen planning to sponsor my American wife after our wedding in August. The CIC is very confusing in terms of what they need as a police certificate. Does she require FBI Certificate or a simple police certificate would do the trick? Or both? I understand the FBI Certificate could take up to 16 to 18 weeks according to the CIC website but I also hear on this form that it only takes 5 to 6 weeks.

How long is the FBI certificate and police certificate valid for?

Haha we're kind of in the same boat. I went ahead and got both (I'm US, my husband is my Canadian sponsor). But they are confusing on the timeline for the documents validity. My FBI took 8 weeks to come back.

The FBI certificate is mandatory. A simple police certificate won't suffice and won't be accepted. Police certificates from all countries (including the FBI certificate) are valid for three months. Meaning that CIC must receive them within three months of the issue date.

I guess we are on the same boat. I find this forum to be very helpful. Did you send the FBI certificate along with the application or do you wait until they ask you to provide it at a later date?

Ugh. That's what I thought. would submitting the paperwork with the expired forms or no police forms hurt our application? I made an appointment today to redo my fingerprints and I still want to send my husband my part of the application this week.

Good day seniors! Can anyone tell me when I can receive my passport request after I resubmitted my police clearance? Started processing since September 2012, Medical done november 2012. Medical is about to expire 2 months from now . I received a letter to redo police certificate only because the first cert already expired please help June 2012. Been waiting for too long. Please advice. Sad
