Police certificates

I got some new UK Police Certificates back in December 2011 because the original ones had expired. Have been told that I need Canadian Police Certificates too.

I've been in Canada since 2010, so my question is, will my UK Police Certificates still be good? I understand that they are valid for a year.

I will be getting Canadian ones in the next week to put in my application (Family class, spousal) and Criminal Rehabilitation application.
