Hi all,

I'm a bit confused about the Police Certificates requirement. I lived in the US as a tourist for different periods from 2006 to 2008; however, I never stayed for over 6 months at a time (can't, as a tourist). Do I have to request Police Certificates to the FBI if I never "lived" there but was merely there as a tourist and if none of my visits were longer than 6 months?

I dont think you need PCC for US as you have lived there for less than 6 months. Please wait replies from senior members for confirmation.

Thank you, nokia3315. If anyone could shed more information on this, I'd greatly appreciate it.

I concur with the others.. but would keep in mind 1 factor: how long did you actually stay?
Was it 5 months, then out of US for a 1 month and then back to US for 5 months etc??
In that case, it might be safer to.

for exp: for people who studied abroad, although we most often do not stay 6 months in a row (come back home for Winter, Easter and summer) therefore never more than 3 months at a time... I did this for a 1 year course, from September to June, but was back home every 2 months due to personal circumstances.. but still submitted the PCC because others have been rejected for this..
In my case though, there is a degree from the country, a student visa and student accom...meaning that I obviously lived there... so it really depends on your exact personal circumstances. .where did u live, what did u do while you were there (since this will al go into your personal history )

Again, most probably you should NoT need it, but just be 100% sure that they do not think that you are trying to bypass a requirement because you left just a few days short of the "required 6 month period" just to take a break and come back etc
