If you are applying to Buffalo, please read the instructions especially the checklist, http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/guides/E37048.pdf which states you must include FBI and state clearances with your application.

PMM,

I am struggling to know what is really required to obtain the police clearance certificate from Missouri and Illinois. there is no clear information anywhere!

I have already done my FBI check and they required finger print card and they say i am a good boy. now i need from the states i lived in but i am not sure if they require finger print check or simply name check will do? this is the only documentation left for me to submit.

please help if you know the answer.

I'll advise you to include a state pc along with you others doc.it'll allow you to avoid delays!
go to police department or court house of your state and tell them
you need a back ground check for cic they will provide you with all
you need to get it done.
that's what a friend of mine did and it took him less than 15mn.
No struggles...go there you will get it done!
good luck

For VA, I was told that you can do it all online and they send you something like a PC. Other states might have that too.
If you really want to over do this, then it is your choice, unless asked specifically by CIC state PC is not required. It is easy to get this, you can also do this to fingerprinting agent they will take your fingerprint electronically and send it your state's Justice Dept. and later they will send you the report to your address, it is really easy and cost around $40 to $60 and it varies from state to state.

Below is the link for PCC requirement in USA,

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/north-america/united-states.asp

Good Luck!

I am living in UAE and this is where i applied for immigration. the CIC requires me to produce the state pc as well. The problem is that i lived in IL and MO during my stay in the US. I am not sure if finger print card is required for the state pc or not. i am not getting any clear answers to it. Also when i call MO highway patrol that handles state pc request, they told me that i have to provide my finger prints provided by them (so they are going to mail me some) and i require apostille (what the heck is that?) plus something about notorised letter etc. All this info confused me even more as to whether the person understood my request or not, or am i asking for state pc to join NASA or NSA?

Can anyone give me a clear answer as to what is required? i mean a simple answer like "u need a)... b)... c)... etc"

really appreciate your help on this guys.

It looks like you need to get the fingerprinting paper, take it to Dubai Police or whoever the authority for fingerprinting there, have them take you fingerprint on that card, have them stamp it then take it to Notary and authenticate it by notarizing it. State report is required whenever is asked by CIC and you were asked.

The procedure above is not verified, but can give you an idea, they need to ensure if the fingerprints are yours when you sent them because they are not taken by them that is why they want the fingerprint document to be authenticated by UAE government authorities.

This is not that much of big deal as it looks, you just need to find this procedure in UAE after you receive the fingerprinting document. Once you know where to go to take fingerprint and authenticate, you will be all set.

BTW apostille is a method of certifying a document for use in another country.

Hello,

I am in Dubai and need to do finger prints to mail later to US FBI for Canadan Immigration
purposes. I had lived in MA. Can you please advise where in the UAE I can get
1. Blank FBI finger prints form
2. Which FBI authorized party in the UAE can do fingerprinting for me that would be acceptable by FBI?
3. What in the UAE can I do for a US State police report
I should be grateful for your quick response. I need to do all that within a week if possible.

Thanks

All of this info you can obtain by navigating from the CIC website, but I would agree, it can be challenging to first find the information, and then understand it...

Missouri -
http://www.mshp.dps.missouri.gov/MSHPWeb/PatrolDivisions/CRID/crimRecChk.html

Better to do the fingerprint option. Click on the link that says "Fingerprint Submission for Applicants Residing Outside Missouri"

Need the FBI card for this. To get the card - you can (1) ask US consulate or local police station if they have it. Some do. (2) Write and request the card from the FBI. (3) Order off the internet.

Strange about the Apostille, it's not mentioned in the instructions, and I got mine from Missouri without this (from Canada).

Illinois
http://www.isp.state.il.us/crimhistory/crimhistoryhome.cfm

Fingerprints required on their form. You have to request their form.

Massachusetts
http://www.mass.gov/Eeops/docs/chsb/cori_request_personal.pdf

You only need the first page. No fingerprints needed for MA, but the form must be notarized.

USA/FBI -
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/inFORMation/security/police-cert/north-america/united-states.asp

For the FBI, you can print the online form on regular paper and use it, or submit the form used by your local police dept. Contact your local police station about fingerprinting services.

Folks you have to DO the STATE PCC...ITs clearly mentioned in CIC instructions.
Newyorker -> They will need State PCC, whereever the stay is more than 6 months.
ITS MUST.. not optional...

There are lot of state issues that are not shared between FBI and State law enforcement offices (Like reckless driving and killing somebody!!) So its essential for the state PCC.

Some states it takes 7 days to get PCC and some 20 days.. But you get it faster in US states.
All you need to provide is finger prints and Fees (some cases covering letter)

ADA, this became a requirement in Feb 2009. My reply was according to the old rule.

Thanks,
