Hi All,

I haven't received ITA , but I'm doing some research about the required documents since the time is very short to prepare all of these documents.

I have a question regarding the police certificate requirement and I hope you can help. As stated in CIC website :

In general, you and all the people in your family who are 18 or older need to get a police certificate. You must get one from each country or territory where you have lived for six or more months in a row since the age of 18. (For example, if you lived in a country for eight months but left on a two-week vacation, that counts as living there for eight months.)

For the country you currently live in, the police certificate must be issued no more than six months before you apply.

For countries where you have lived for six months or more, the police certificate must be issued after the last time you lived in that country.

I have visited many countries frequently and in some countries I used either visit visas or entered without visa (exempted) due to my work, and in some cases the total time reached 6 months . Now as I checked in embassies websites (for example,Turkish Embassy), it's not possible to get a police certificate if I was not a resident in the country and one of the requirements to get a police certificate is to provide the residency card number. What should I do in this case ? Has anyone met this problem before ?

Please share your experience.

You need a police certificate from those countries only if you have stayed for 6 months at a stretch normally in a Resident/Business visa.
Travels to any country using visitor or business visa which are generally few months at max DOES NOT need police certificate.
You would although have to list every travel in Travel History page of application.

Thank you for your reply. Actually even with the non resident/business visas I traveled twice or three times which exceeded six months , and I didn't see anywhere in CIC website If the police certificate only applicable for resident/business visa.

Yes, you can't see anywhere about the visa status but generally if you lived more than 6 months in a row then you needs to provide the PCC. But if you lived 6 months in 2 yr or 5 yr time but not in a row, then doesn't need to provide. It's my opinion even some of the immigrant lawyer option too.,

Thank you all for your response , this bring us back to my initial question , if the country which I visited didn't agree to provide PCC for non residents what should I do in this case ? should I write a letter to CIC to explain the situation?
I'm afraid this issue could put me in a loop between CIC and the embassy and cause my application to get rejected.
