Hello everyone,

Thanks for clarification on PCC's. I have been searching this thread for quite some time now.

Could you please help me with following extended questions on PCC:

(a.) I believe the PCC's if not submitted with initial application to CIO should go to respective VO office ?

(b.) Do we wait for VO to request them ? Do they generally request it after we receive 2nd AOR ?

(c.) I need to apply PCC from 3 countries, in case I need to wait for VO to request them what is the right time to apply ?

The max time for PCC would be 3 months from the 3 countries I have on my list. I know a simple answer to my case would be apply with PCC upfront but I do not want to loose time on initiating my processing + the 3 month initial validity case does not help my case any further.

I appreciate your time and response to my queries. Thanks in advance. :)

a) yes b.c the Visa Office is where they'd start processing your file (go through IELTS, PCC..etc)

b) yes, wait until they request for it because you do not know where your file is at this point (Sydney or your Visa Office)

c) if I were you, I would find out how long it takes to get a PCC from the three countries that you have on your list. I had to get a FBI letter from the United States and it took about 2 months for me to receive that letter. do a little research and see how long it will take for you to get the PCCs so you'll know when to request for them so you can meet the three months maximum before CIC receives them.

Johnny31,

Thanks much for your prompt and detailed response.

Is there anyway for me to find where my file (wrt VO) ? Say after I get my first AOR from CIO, do they also state where my file is headed ? Is this a good point to apply for my PCC's and be prepared for when they ask me. I did my research on the 3 countries, USA is the one with max timeframe for PCC from FBI. I have come across several individuals like you who got their FBI PCC's in 2 months. I hope my case is similar.

I am just worried about the fact that if I wait for VO to request PCC's - what timeframe do they give me to respond ? Believe its 45 to 60 days ? if Yes that may fall short in my case.

Please excuse me for some lame questions but I am still trying to figure out the end to end PR process. So when I get AOR from CIO, they would issue a file no. to me ? Right ? I was planning to apply PCC at that point and then submit them referencing my file no. to my respective VO.

kindly correct if my understanding or planning is wrong.

When you receive your first AOR, it indicates that CIC has received your file and they would issue you a file number. After that, you'll need to wait for months until the next update on your status. It could be 4-5 months or more until your file starts being processed.

Until your status is changed to "In Process", your file is probably still in a storage room in Sydney waiting to be shipped to your Visa Office. Since you didn't include your PCC, it is recommended by almost everyone to wait until you receive your AOR then you can email / phone CIC about where to send your PCC and they might be able to give you directions. The reason you should wait until you receive your AOR is because you can attach a short letter with your file number along with your PCC so they'll update your file for you.

Seniors:

1) Do we need to send PCC after receiving first AOR or second AOR?
I wish to send PCC after getting AOR instead of waiting their request.

2) In genetal, do we have a common VO office address to courier PCC, fax# and email id for people submitting Canada PR from Canada/Toronto ?

Just is a Clarification, It depends I guess your specific situation. For example in the section of police Certificates from North America, including Mexico, the CIC website says:

"How to obtain a police certificate - Mexico

Do I need to provide a police certificate when applying for permanent residence?
Yes, but not with your initial application.

The visa office where you submit your application will contact you when they need this information.

How and where do I obtain one?
You will need to provide both:

Certificate from Procuraduría General de la República (PGR).
Certificate from Secretaría de Seguridad Pública (SSP)."
so, you don't need to provide a Police Certificate with your initial Aplication, but I will be needed later.
