Hi, I got the ITA and I have a question about police certificate. My husband lived in Ireland for 5 months and 20 days in 2010/2011, total of 169 days. The system did not asked for a police certificate, but I’m wondering if the officer will ask. I know that it’s very complicated and takes a lot of time to get the police certificate from Ireland. I appreciate your help!

You could start the process. If they ask for it, you will just show the proof that you applied.

It technically isn't required if you were present in a country less than 6 months. However, it would be good to include to submit under additional documents.

No one can tell you with certainty. It is possible. It could partly depend on the number and countryI(ies) of other PCCs that he is submitting.

If the system isn’t asking for it, it’s safe to say it’s not needed. However, if you want to err on the side of caution so nothing delays your application I’ll suggest you start the process of applying for it now since you mentioned it’s complicated and possibly time consuming. This is so you have it in hand if they need it. You have to weigh the pros and cons and make the decision. If it’s not needed, then the money would have been wasted to get it. If it in turn gets needed, voila!! you have it and don’t need to worry about it anymore.

it would have been a requirement if it was a country where he is currently residing and he has been leaving there for 6 months or more. As he lived there 2010/2011 it does not fall into that category.
