Hi everybody,

I have a question regarding the need of police certificate. So I am applying my PR application inland with my husband as my sponsor. I see on IMM5443 that I need a police certificate for the place where i have resided for more than 6 months. And i do live between Hong Kong and Canada ( i did my high school and undergrad here in Canada).
So do i need police certificate for both Canada and HK?
I was also looking at how to get a police certificate in HK, the cic website said "Do I need to provide a Police Certificate with my Application for Permanent Residence? No. Citizenship and Immigration Canada will send you a letter requesting a police certificate after you send your Application for Permanent Residence. You must bring that letter when you apply for a Police Certificate."
w w w.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/asia-pacific/hong-kong.asp

So i am very confuse if i need it or not.

You will need a Police Certificate from Hong Kong, but some countries require an official request before issuing a Police Certificate. So, after you file your application you will receive an email from CIC that specifically asks for the Hong Kong Police Certificate that you will then show Hong Kong authorities who will presumably provide you with a Police Certificate for immigration purposes. I've just done something similar for a Dutch Police Certificate.

You might need a Canadian Criminal Record Check, but they will decide that after you file your application.

If you've haven't spent more than 6 months in any other country besides Canada and Hong Kong, then yes that's correct.
