From what I understand the sponsored person needs to provide police certificates for each country other than Canada, in which he/she has lived for six consecutive months or longer since reaching the age of 18.

I also found an "Appendix A: Request for Police Certificates" on the website which says that police certificates are only needed for countries the sponsor lived in in the past 10 years.

My questions:
1. Does anyone know if I need to use above form to obtain those police certificates?
2. Is it really true that police certificates are only needed for the last 10 years? It´s a bit odd I would not find this information in the instruction guide but only in this form so I am not sure.
3. If I understood everything correctly in my case police certificates from the UK and the US are needed - does anyone know where I can obtain police certificates from these countries? What are the authorities called that I need to contact and how long does it take to get those documents from them?

Thanks so much!

Information on how to obtain police certificates can be found on the CIC web site:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/index.asp

You need to provide police certificates for every country you have lived in for six months or longer since the age of 18 or for the last 10 years (whichever is longer). So if you are 38 (for example), you need to provide police certificates going back to the age of 18 (not just the last 10 years).

Sorry, I have another question. I currently reside in Canada (Québec) - can I have those fingerprints done here anywhere? If so, where? Do police stations offer this service?
Thanks.
