I have been studying and now working in Canada for over 5 years now.

When I was 13 (I am 25 now) I had a instance with the police where I was fighting with my siblings and was arrested (mostly to scare me). I was never incarcerated and remember the cop saying it won’t be on my record when I’m older. Never was a big deal until now that I’m getting FBI clearance I’ve been scared it’ll show up.

My question is - after getting a study permit and work permit would Canada even consider a childhood misdemeanor as a reason to be inadmissible? Am I over thinking it? Just scared I’ll lose everything from a bad night as a kid that I can barely remember....

IMO, and I am CDN so I don't know the law in the States. Does a misdemeanor give you a criminal record in the state you were in when you are a jeuvenile? I would be inclined to say no it wouldn't. I suggest doing a google search, misdemeanor, jeuvenile, criminal record, add your state where you were living, should bring up the info you want.

Based on the CIC website, I highly doubt so. Your police certificate, background check and basically all they ask you about is from 18 years old onwards.

You are not inadmissible to Canada for a crime committed as a juvenile offender if you were treated as a minor in a country that had special provisions for juvenile offenders. You’re fine, no worries!
