Has anyone heard of cases where police certificate requirement is waived due to applicant's age? My parents are 70 and 80 years old. Getting a police certificate from their country of birth is a lengthy process which also requires their fingerprints, but their fingerprints have almost disappeared due to their age. They already sent in their citizenship application without police certificate (they were in their native country more than 180 days) with an explanation that they will send it later. Now we are thinking of waiting for their AOR, before applying for police certificate in hopes that it might be waived. My uncle recently received his PR and he was never asked for police certificate. He is also 70 y/o. Appreciate your thoughts or experience with this.

The law does unfortunately not provide for an age exception for the police certificate. So do not expect the requirement to be waived.
