hello all pls advise if this is something normal or anyone faced same issue ???

while in interview the officer gave me a paper to submit a police certificate from a middle eastern country where my parents are currently living , I don't know why ???? as per document list I didn't spend more than 183 days outside Canada during the last 6 years not even the last 4 , the maximum period I spent when I go to visit my parents usually between 19 days to 45 days a year , so I never spent 183 days outside Canada , can someone pls advise why did they asked for it ??? is this is a normal routine ??? , the officer said that it is requested in the new application forum but maybe I missed it .... I checked the application document list after , yes it is there but based on 183 days out if it applies , so why did they do that ? anyone faced the same issue . for me I have no problem I will submit it as soon as possible hope it will not delay the file , pls any expert who could advice and explain the situation !!!!

if you have it made, submit it.
Did you tell them you were not there for 6 months or more ?
If they still insisted, then its best to submit it.

You might misunderstand the rule.

You don't have to spend a single stay of 183 days in a country. The TOTAL number of days in a country counts. Based on what you write, you are either above 183 days in total or cutting it close, that's why they want you to submit a PCC

He said never more than 45 days each time, so it cannot be more than 180 days even if he is there for 45 days every year .... my guess is there's probably something else the officer wanted to verify.

45 days * 5 years = 225... give or take, he is surely close to 183 days. When in doubt about security and background checks, processing agents will always play it safe (they have to cover their behind).

but police certificate is only required for the last 4 years, 45 *4

Thanks guys for your replies , I never stayed there for more than 183 days a year , but let me ask a question here pls
183 rule to submit a police certificate ( if you been there 183 days for single year or total years because if it is for a single year then I never exceeded 183 days a year , but if it is for a total 4 years then I exceeded for sure .

regarding the guy who asked me did I explained , no I didn't , I just took the request and that's it .

anyway its ok I will do it and submit it as soon as possible hope it will not delay the file .

could some pls advise regarding the 183 rule as mentioned above pls pls thank you all

183 is the total number days in the last 4 years. Not the number of days in each year.

guys I'm sorry I did a calculations again , I exceeded the 183 days within the last 4 years , while I'm preparing the file I thought it applies only in a single year I didn't thought I have to count the total absent if it is more than 183 days or no . but I think its a good point to make people aware as I think this is a common misunderstood and may be only me .

hey guys i was in Qatar for 8 months working,2015 - 2016 though i had PR status of canada. before leaving the country for good in 2016 i took police clearance letter from Qatar before i left the country... I am applying now for citizenship.. can the I submit the same POLICE CLEARANCE LETTER which i took before i left the country..i didnt went out of Canada since then...kindly advise.

Lucky you, they figured it out at the end instead of returning your app back at Sydney stage or delaying your app in middle of the road. I know the PCC from the middle east is like a pain in the b###.
Just try to finish it asap and then you should be ok.

The instruction guide doesn't say anything about how old the certificate must be. If you got it just few days before leaving the country, you might be good to go ( Not too sure ).
@spyfy is always helpful in this matter :) .
And you can try calling them and ask (I mean the IRCC). Good luck
