Police certificate question

I have requested a police certificate from my home country's consulate in Canada. They provided one with the seals and certifications from both the origin country and consul in Canada. Attached to it is an english translation with additional text from consulate general which says that it certifies the translation is true, complete and correct. This paper as well has the consul signature and certification.

The two documents are stapled together and I received them from the consulate in Canada in person.

My questions are:

1) Is an additional, new translation required if I have this document in english provided by my country's consulate in Canada.

2) Do I need to make a color scan of the document and have it notarized by notary public in Canada and provide that instead? In that case, would I also submit the document I received from consulate that has the translation attached to it?

3) Related to that, what exactly is considered a "certified true copy"??

The whole thing is extremely confusing.

Sorry for derailing this thread. I got a certificate of disclosure from Scottish police. Is that enough for family sponsorship, or do I need to get one from the UK police too?

CIC stipulates that anyone who has lived or worked in the UK specifically needs an ACRO police certificate, I don't think you can use a certificate of disclosure. Just go to ACRO's website, my husband did it online. I think the UK police certificate is pretty easy to get compared to a lot of countries!

Sorry i'm jumping into the conversation here. My husband needs to obtain a police certificate from the UK and I was wondering how the 3rd party confirms information. Additionally, how long did it take for you to get the certificate in the mail?

There are two service options available for your Police Certificate:

  • Standard service - £45.00 - 10 working days to process (Saturday, Sunday and UK bank holidays are not working days).
The day the application is received and the day the certificate is sent out is not included in the 10 processing days. Please also allow reasonable time for delivery of the certificate.

  • Premium service - £80.00 - 2 working days to process (Saturday, Sunday and UK bank holidays are not working days).
The day the application is received and the day the certificate is sent out is not included in the 10 processing days. Please also allow reasonable time for delivery of the certificate.

It looks like they email the 3rd part to verify your passport picture or something
