Hi guys,

So far this forum has been very helpful and im flad I found this place. Thank you.

My issue is regarding police certificate. My spouses certificate shows that my wife was living at her address since birth. However her birth certificate shows that when she was born she was living at a different address. The addresses are literally 1 minute walk away from each other by foot. Does she need to get this fixed to show the date that she first moved into the current address or is it ok if it says "by birth?"

Would it cause a problem in the future in regards to the processing time?

Hopefully someone can help me out and explain.

Thanks

I think that only the history from age 18 onwards is taken into account, so it's probably not that relevant.
Is it a clerical error or a record error? Is the PCC completely clean apart from this address information?

Yes the pcc is completely clean. It is just the "from" date.

Basically it says that my wife has been living at the "the following address" from "by birth" to "to date".

The only info that is wrong here is the 'from "by birth"'.

Please note. This is just *my* opinion...

Given that the error does not materially alter the status or meaning of the document, I'd be inclined to submit it. It achieves the required purpose and the minor clerical error really only relates to identity confirmation for the issuing authority.

I'd concur with this. They don't just hand out PCC's to anyone and the fact that you have one means you verified your identity with the appropriate authorities in the first place. CIC should have no problem with it.

Thanks guys!

Is the police certificate required obly by cic or does the immigration office of the country where my spouse is from, in this case Pakistan, look at the certificate too. I worry because I hear that spousal sponsorship from Pakistan is hard and I would not want to delay the process.

Is there a way that I can talk to an immigration lawyer or even a CIC employee?

Thanks guys so much for the help.

It's used by the visa office that is processing the application.
