Hi,

My wife (PA) received notification to upload Schedule A along with Police Certificate this evening. This is great, but what do they mean why they write "Multiple"?

We have resided only in Sweden the last 6 years with summer trips (1-4 months) to Canada the last 11 years. We did live in the Netherlands together for 4 years from 2007-2011, but this was not needed to provide in our application process therefore they should not know of this stage of our life together. Nothing to hide obviously, but just want to be sure she should just provide Police a Certificate from Sweden.

Any thoughts?

Unless the requirements have changed, I think they need a police certificate from every country the applicant has resided in for more than a total of 6 months since age 18, not since the beginning of your life together.

Ok fair enough.

So they assume everyone has lived other countries and ask every applicant for multiple Police Certificates?

I mean, no where in our application did we mention living in Holland because that information was not needed. So to me, my wif should just provide Swedish Police Certificate.

Find it hard to believe they require a Dutch Police Certificate without knowing we lived there.

Found this on complete guide for an applicant from Sweden:

When we ask you for police certificates at this stage, you’ll have to submit them for:

the country where you currently live, if you have lived there for six months or more; and
the country where you have spent most of your adult life since the age of 18.

*To me, this means we should only provide Police Certificate from Sweden.

See the official CIC immigration site which clearly says any country lived in or visited for total 6 months or more since the age of 18 all applicants included in an application.

The problem being no matter how inconvenient if you do not get the documentation as required it could be considered misrepresentation if comes up later. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/intro.asp

I always found this a strange requirement if over many years someone accumulates 6 months of business or tourist trips without actually having lived in a country with a residential address but it is what it is.

Yes I understand and have we have no problems getting Police Certificate from Holland for my wife except for the hassle and time.

Just strange that I can read from the complete guide concerning our application something different then what is posted other places.

They are funny that way. We had to provide my wife's PC from Canada, even though she had only visited and never been here more than 6 months total. Made no sense, as they didn't request one from Thailand where she had been living more than 6 months total.....

Ya I mean I don't really get it as my wife is Swedish and lived in Sweden a vast magority of her life. Visited Canada for 1-4 months every summer for the last 11 years (and we mentioned this in our application) so I can see them eventually requesting a Canadian Police Certificate.

No concerns getting these other then hassle and potential delays from the Dutch Police. States not to provide a Canadian Police Certificate so will not submit that unless they ask for one.

In the meantime, will look into Holland...

We were also confused about this, it had multiple required in brackets. I believe this is generic. My spouse has never traveled outside country of birth and my spouse was asked to upload Schedule A and Police Certificates (Multiple Required). But upon further research, that request is generic and applies only if applicable. As in, only if the permanent resident applicant has reside in another country for 6 months or longer since their 18th birthday and family members on application that is 18years or older.

Hi

I have applied for my wife under Family class and I am having the same confusion.

My wife never went out of country except our 5 days honeymoon in Dubai but they have asked for "Police Certificates (Multiple) (required)"

Not sure what to do except getting PCC from my her country knowing the fact that it is not required if the stay is not more than 6 months in 1 calendar year in a foreign land.

Any suggestion/help is appreciated.

Ya fairly certain in your wife's case only a Police Certificate from her country of citizenship is required.

In our case my wife needed one from Sweden (she's a Swedish citizen and lived magority of her life there) and a Police Certificate from the Netherlands (we lived there for 4 years together).

Confusion from our side was that CIV contradicts themselves with posted different information for the Police Certificates on the website. We figured better safe then sorry so are in the process of acquiring Swedish and Dutch Police Certificates.

I have the same doubt . I am in HK now and if the police clearance is needed since I have been here over a year. Should I provide the police clearance from Hongkong or should I wait for the book to request it ? As far as I know the Hongkong police station will send the paper directly to the visa office . In that case ,what address should I tell the Hongkong police to send to ?

Hi,

Would suggest you request for the PCC once you have your File number. True, no way you can get it and as per CIC, it will be directly released either to the Canadian Embassy in Tel Aviv or an Israeli embassy abroad upon request. The information and documents you need is here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/mid-east/israel.asp
