So, Del, did you obtain your PCC before the CIC requested it? Do we absolutely need the letter from the CIC? My wife already gave her father a power of attorney and he is in Mexico City and can literally get it right away .

And is it just the one document we need for the PCC? Sorry all of this is confusing.
Yes, you need the letter! They will not accept your request without the letter from CIC

I'm hearing two different sides here..

So let me try to get this straight..

1.) Wait for letter from Government to arrive requesting PCC
2.) We go to a Mexico embassy here in Calgary where we reside and request the PCC.. my wifes father goes and gets it.
3.) Recieve PCC faster this way
4.) Translate and send to the Canadian embassy in Mexico? Or not send?

Or

1.) Apply for PCC directly through the Canadian embassy in Mexico which takes 2-3 months.

Could we still get an AIP even while waiting for the PCC?

No, the PGR asked me for the letter so I had to wait until requested by IRCC.

You have to wait for the letter, because PGR will request this.
After that you have 2 options:
1. Made the process through CIC (2-3 months)
2. Made the process by yourself in person in Mexico or through a Carta Poder to someone (on this case, you have to translate the certificate before sending to CIC.. it takes up to 1 month the whole process)

Has anyone sent an application to the Canadian embassy recently? I sent my documents 1 month ago and they are still replying with:
"This is to acknowledge reception of your request for a Mexican Police Certificate in our office.

Your document will be reviewed. If they are complete, they will be shortly sent to Mexican authorities. Processing time for a Mexican Police Certificate is from 30 to 60 business days. Results will be sent to the office in charge of your application directly."

How do people know when their documents are sent to the PGR?

Sir/Madam,

This is to acknowledge reception of your request for a Mexican Police Certificate in our office.

Your document will be reviewed. If they are complete, they will be shortly sent to Mexican authorities. Processing time for a Mexican Police Certificate is from 30 to 60 business days. Results will be sent to the office in charge of your application directly.

In case your application is incomplete or mistaken, it will be returned to you by regular mail and new documents will be requested. A letter indicating the reasons why they were returned will be included.

Please note that due to the high volume of applications we receive in our office, we cannot provide you with personalized assistance or detailed information. We kindly request you to be patient and keep your correspondence to a minimum.

Recieved this email when I inquired. Does this mean they have my application? Hope it is right and not wrong.

I'm getting the same email. I've asked them twice, app was received on June 13th. Is this normal? My God I hope it doesn't mean they are returning it.

Hi all.
I really need your help.

My documents were received on May 13 and sent to the Fiscalia on May 31. That means 50 days and 20 business days respectively. I got laid off and my last day in July 26.

How soon do you get a decision made once you get the police check in Canada?

Thanks for your help.

Hello Everyone!!!

Our Mexican government it is really burocratic, even for this letter. Once you send all the paperwork it takes around 5 to 6 months to have your profile updated at the IRCC.
