police certificate in CR

ok, I am sponsoring my wife in Costa Rica, I got her police certificate 3 months ago, it will expire on Oct. 13... so does that mean that I have to send in everything if possible by october 13th? if not then I guess I will have to get a new copy of this? thanks.

Yes, you need to send everything by October 13th, else you'll have to get a new police certificate. Police certificates must be no older than 3 months when they arrive to CIC's hands (at Mississauga).

The application package has to arrive in Mississauga before Oct 13.

I think as long as it's received by then it should be ok. It takes them a month to open the mail once it gets there so I'd think they would take that into consideration.

what?! your police certificate is only valid for 3 months? I thought it was about 6-12 months... I was about to mail off my application tomorrow! Good thing I saw this... If I leave my application and post it mid november does it matter that the forms and passport picture are dated october 5th?

Hi shandymoo!

Not sure about the forms, but the immigration pictures will be fine. These have to be no older than 6 months when received by CPC-M.
The forms... I would say it's better to sign them again. Unless your partner is not next to you to sign them again, then I would just include a note explaining why they have an earlier date.

oh i meant i was going to send off my application for a police certificate not for a visa lol! I contacted the police dept asking if it would be ok to send in forms that were signed over a month ago
