May be one of you can help me.... my wife is on a TRV in Canada for at least 8 months now. Singapore ask us to send them a police certificate from Canada because she's been here for more than six months. I saw we have to get her certificate here in Québec at the Montreal police station who can send electronic request to the RCMP to check her finger print. By using the electronic request, the delay is a lot shorter, about 72 hours. I want to know once we have the certificate, do we have to send it back by mail or we can send it by email.

Tks for your help... :)

When the embassies request documents they usually mention in their requests how you have to submit the documents. Vienna requested my additional docs by email, my co-worker had to send hers to London by regular mail.

Since Police Certificates are required in originals, you would have to send it in via mail/courier. Only documents that do not require originals, one could scan and send via email. One alternative is to scan and send the PCC via email, but mention in the email that you have also sent the original by mail. Not sure if this would help in processing the application faster, but at least they would know that you have complied with their request.

Thank you for your help.... I just find that the best way to get it done here in Québec is with those people...

Interesting that they should ask for a police certificate from Canada for your wife... I believe I read somewhere on this forum before that they can do them internally :(
Are you sending the original or a scan?

We did get the digital fingerprint at the commissionaires office and they will get the police certificate from the RCMP. We should receive the original in few weeks and the original should be send by the police to the Singapore office

I actually asked specifically if I required a Canadian police check for my spouse (who has been here > 6 months in canada) for an inland application, on this forum, and was told I do not need it.

Perhaps I actually do?

hi everyone,
hope that someone can answer my question.
Does my son who is not 18 yet and not immigrating with me to Canada need a police check?
many thanx for your help

oops i forgot to say, i am in UK.
My son is going to do the medical as required, but will he need the police check too ?

I ended up answering my own question. From http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/north-america/canada.asp:
Code:
Do I need to provide a police certificate when applying for permanent residence?
Only in certain cases. The Canadian visa office will tell you if you need a Canadian criminal record check while your application is being processed.

With Canadian police checks it states on the website that your processing office will request it if they require it. You can request a fingerprinting form from the RCMP and have the fingerprints done in the sponsored person's home country so everything is prepared. The information for requesting this form is on the CIC website.
