So just to recap, first we need to receive an ITA and get a file number, and then we can send fingerprints and pictures to the Canadian Embassy or do we wait until CIC requests the Mexican police certificate from us?

You are one of the few countries that you DON'T need to provide PC from Mexico until requested BECAUSE they are vaiid for 10 DAYS only , and it doesn't take 60-90 days to get it. Only 2 weeks . I do have lots of experience getting clients to apply for it and is fast !, and because you are in Canada your process is different and lucky for you EASIER ! The Canadian Embassy in Mexico City applies on your behalf after you receive the file number, you send pictures and fingerprints.
So this is what its posted on the Mexican Police Record Section for Express Entry:
Do I need to provide a Police Certificate for Express Entry?
No. CIC will contact you after you apply for permanent residence. CIC will give you specific instructions and the information you need to get a police certificate. Please read the instructions below for more information.
Note: CIC will not accept police certificates sent by mail for Express Entry applications.
Additional information can be obtained through the Procuraduría General de la República (PGR) (available in Spanish only).

The Visa office in Mexico will only process requests for those individuals with open applications within CIC.

I already got my invitation to apply for permanent resident in the express entry program last week.
So my question is, should i submit ALL of my papers except the Mexican Police Certificate? For my understanding i should send my application without the mexican police certificate and then CIC will send me instructions about how to get it?
Hope someone can help me
Thanks!

Upload an explanation letter on your file for the PC with the intructions from the website.
Send a letter to the Emabssy in Mexico to request the processs of the certificate with a copy of ITA, and the documents requested (fingerprints, photos)

Felicidades!

Hi mascat,

How long did it take to get the Police Check done?
Did you send the documents directly to the Canadian Embassy in Mexico?

We just got the request letter from CIC. We are considering to ask my father in Mexico to get the police check through the PGR office .

Thanks,

Hey guys. After getting my AOR under express entry last week, Today received a request letter from CIC for Mexico PCC. However, they only gave me one day to submit the PCC copy online. I am so confused, i was thinking they would give more time after they ask for this PCC. Is someone in the same boat as me? I am afraid my ITA would be cancelled! Utter confusion. Please help.

I still stuck uploading files before the application, but it is very clear to me, like Susana say, that we should wait for CIC to ask us to contact Mexican embassy, then send the information and photos and then there is no much more than wait until they do their job.

Hi macast,

How was your experience in getting the PCC? Our due date to upload the PCC is in 1 week. 7 weeks ago we sent the required documents to the Canadian Embassy in Mexico.. Still waiting... Did you get it on time? If not, how did you deal with it?

Thanks

Seems like most of the people who have submitted the documents to the Canadian embassy in Mexico and done it the "easy way" have suffered long waiting times (3 - 6 months).

Can anybody share an experience where this process has taken less than that?

The only other option I can consider is to send all the documents to a family member in Mexico and then he can request it on my behalf. PCC's have an expiration of 30 days according to PGR website. After receiving it, I'll send it for translation and then transmit to CIC.

May be more expensive, but you'll avoid stress and long waiting times.

It only takes 2 weeks?

Hi there

Anybody trying to get Police Certificates already? Sounds like a bureaucratic nightmare.

Experience anybody?
I got the CIC request on Feb 16th, 2016 and the PCC was sent by the Canadian Embassy in Mexico City to my VO on Apr 8th, 2016. I think they have a fixed day of the month to send batches of requests to the PGR as well as another fixed day to send them to the VO's so the total processing time can be between 1-2 months. The posts of people taking more than that to get it are probably dated back to when there were some political issues between the PGR and the Canadian Embassy.

Some people have gone to Mexico or have had a family member get the PCC faster in-person + a certified translation with mixed results: some agents accept it that way while others demand you to obtain it through the Canadian Embassy since the instructions state to do it that way.
