Hi there

Anybody trying to get Police Certificates already? Sounds like a bureaucratic nightmare.

Experience anybody?

Fellow Mexican here, so you were one of the lucky few to be receive an ITA? How did you do it, do you have a LMIA?

As for the police certificate, I've heard horror stories about PGR losing files or messing up applications. I'm yet to request one myself, as I would have to receive an ITA before I do, so as of now my only advice would be to really double check you're sending fingerprints and pictures exactly as requested (and maybe send extra copies just in case) if you don't want PGR to reject your application.

You might find this link interesting:

¡Suerte!

I still don't get my ITA, but I still have a valid LMO and will have new LMIA in April, so I hope have no problems to get an ITA as soon I get my CELPIP results and register my profile. I was totally unaware of EE's requirements until middle January that's the reason I am not ready with my test results.

After read a lot of posts here and CIC documentation, I am worried because they are expecting you to provide all information in 60 days and that seems totally impossible in countries like Mexico. Policies Certificates in Mexico take between 60 - 90 days.

Maybe I just need to wait because obviously nobody is still there in the process since the first draw was just submitted last week.

As far as I know, you do not have to wait for the ITA to start collecting documents.

I suggest reading up on previous PR requirements (Pre Express Entry) and start collecting your documents as soon as possible. This way, when you get an ITA you have your documents ready or already under process. It saves time and less stressful.

I have most of my documents ready.

Hope this helps.

If it takes that long you should request it from now so you can have it ready for ITA (since you have LMIA).

Just remember that it shouldn't have been issued more than 90 days before you send in your documents after receiving ITA.

I want to get Certificates ASAP, but this is what the CIC website says:

You must first submit your Application for Permanent Residence. The Canadian Embassy in Mexico will request a police certificate on your behalf after you provide all of the following:

Two sets of original fingerprints that meet these standards:
rolled and flat impressions of all ten fingers taken with black ink
full name, date of birth and sex
the name and address of the police agency where the fingerprints were taken
the signature of the officer taking the fingerprints
To have your fingerprints taken:

In Canada: Contact a fingerprinting agency, or visit your local police station.
In any other country: Visit your local police station. In some countries the Mexican Embassy or Consulate will be able to assist you.
Three passport-size (4.5 cm × 3.5 cm) photographs of front profile (no makeup, earrings, glasses, or facial hair – no exceptions)
Three passport-size (4.5 cm × 3.5 cm) photographs of right profile (no makeup, earrings, glasses, or facial hair – no exceptions)
One clear, legible copy of your passport bio-page (with your picture and full name)
Quote your file number, your name, and date of birth.
- I still don't submit my Application for Permanent Residence.
- I have no file number neither

Certainly in pre-EE information website says:

In some countries, it can take a long time to get police certificates. If you did not start the process to get them before you were invited to apply, you should do this right away, so you can submit them before the 60 days are up.

Sooooo ? This keeps bugging me. Ideas?

Ohhh, in the same page CIC website says:

The Visa office in Mexico will only process requests for those individuals with open applications within CIC.

I noticed they just updated this page a few days ago:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/north-america/mexico.asp

Documents you need:
Letter requesting a police certificate from Citizenship and Immigration Canada.
Special notes:
The Visa office in Mexico will only process requests for those individuals with open applications within CIC.
So like you say OP, apparently there's no way to apply for a police certificate from Mexico until you get an ITA, a file number, and a letter requesting a police certificate from CIC.

Looks like impossible to me.

Update: We are looking into a better way to do this, maybe use a document so my dad in Mexico can go and get my Polices Certificates or I will need to go to Mexico and do this personally. Because looks like me outside of Canada there is no way to make this works, at least not in 60 days.

Tomorrow I will make some calls and update this post about what they said.

You are one of the few countries that you DON'T need to provide PC from Mexico until requested BECAUSE they are vaiid for 10 DAYS only , and it doesn't take 60-90 days to get it. Only 2 weeks . I do have lots of experience getting clients to apply for it and is fast !, and because you are in Canada your process is different and lucky for you EASIER ! The Canadian Embassy in Mexico City applies on your behalf after you receive the file number, you send pictures and fingerprints.

Wow, Thank you Susana, that sounds much better!

Actually they removed the "60-90 days" advice from the CIC website.

Thanks for share your experiences, nothing is better that have thoughts from somebody that already did it
