Hi,

I am just about starting my process for the Canadian Immigration. I have a question on obtaining Police Certificates from India.

Q - Can we get a police certificate from one city (presently residing) while our work experience has been in another city ? I want to see if i could avoid going to that other city since its far to get my police certificate.

Any other info on police certificates would be greatly appreciated.

THANK YOU.

Sincerely,
Canmats

Hello Canmats,

Regarding your policae certificate from India.....................if you are in India, then you need to visit your local police station and submit your request for a police clearance certificate for Canada immigration purpose.U need to pay some amount towards the fees.

However, if you are residing in the USA,then you go to the nearest Indian Embassy ( depends on the state ur residing) and submit your application for Police clearance certificate.

The embassy will mail you the certificate with in 7-8 working days.U need to submit your original passport, the copy of the CIC letter, photos and some$$$'s as fees.

HOpe this is of help to u.

Rav

Hi Rav,

Today, I sent application requesting PCC for me and my wife to Indian Consulate in Houston. I have sent cashiers check, ORIGINAL passports, residential proof, I-797 with I-94 (since my visa has expired but have H1B extended) and ofcourse completed application forms. Could you let me know what CIC letter you are talking about?

Can anyone tell me from their recent past experiences, how long did it take to issue their PCCs and return of ORIGINAL passport? I am worried because few people said that notarized passport copies are fine while some say originals have to be sent.

Thanks in advance,

Tapak

hello Tapak,

Good to hear that you submitted ur documentes to the Indain embassy,Houston Tx.

However you need to substantiate the need for the Police Certificate and since you are applying for Canada PR, you should have received a letter from the CIC asking you to submit Police Clearance Certificate.

I'm not sure if you have received any letter from the CIC asking you to submit the Police clearancecertificate.

Apprecaite if u can give more details.

But i wish to mention again that you also need to submit / explain the reason to the Indian Embassy why you need the police clerance certificate --- *** This is very important*****

Wishes,

Rav

IF the OP is applying to Buffalo, which does not use SAP, then s/he must submit Police Certificates with the application.

Hi,

I'm in a situation where I asked for the police clearance certificate from Indian Embassy in Houston. They told me to leave original passport or come and get it stamped when the police clearance is available. They asked me to check in 4-5 days.

Do they stamp the passports after police clearance?Or do they give some sort of certificates? As far as I know CIC in Buffalo needs original copies of the police certificates? Can someone throw some light into this issue?

Thanks for responding Rav,

I am planning to apply at CIC buffalo which requires to send the PCC along-with the application (I hope I am correct), so I don't have any letter from CIC requesting for the same. As regards the request for PCC from India Embassy in Houston, yes I have mentioned the reason as a supporting document for Canadian PR.
I have sent my original passports and need to know how long does it take to issue the PCC and return of passports?

Thanks again,

Tapak
