Police certificate for work permit (online application in the US)

Dear all,

I am currently located in the US (am not US citizen though). I have submitted my Canada work permit application and temporary visa application for my spouse for a month. I am still waiting for update from CIC but I wonder if CIC will require police certificates in the second stage?
I applied online and the application status is open. If someone has experienced similar situation, please let me know. Getting a FBI certificate for non-citizen takes very long time (~3 months).

I have also applied for online work permit application on May 25 along with my spouse but it is showing the status OPEN. Please keep me posted for any status update you get. Is there a way we can keep in touch - I will keep you posted if I get any info about the background check
