Hi, I'm in the Express Entry pool and I've been in Canada for over a year and a half.

I wanted to know if a Police Certificate for Canada is necessary (I got the ones from my home country already) in order to get that paperwork done in advance. I ask because I see different info like:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=037&top=4

or here

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/application/medical-police/police-certificates/how/canada.html

"Do I need to provide a police certificate with my application for permanent residence? No

Name of document to get: Criminal record check

If you are not a citizen of Canada:
If you live in Canada:
We will tell you if you need a Canadian criminal record check while your application is being processed. If we ask you to complete a criminal record check, visit the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) for instructions."

Any info would be appreciated, thanks!

??? What more info do you need? That is all the relevant info... Both sources say the same thing.... Besides, why would you believe an anonymous responder this forum over direct IRCC instructions?
Agreed!

Yeah, OK, but I think it came out harsher than intended, so I edited. But I am often surprised by people who copy and paste the correct info, and then ask "what should I do"? LOL. Maybe I've been doing this too long.

I understand your logic, all the info is there, but I posted this because I've met two people here in Canada that got the ITA and they had to get the certificates and they said it took a while, that I should get them while I'm in the pool, but I might not need them?.

Well thanks for the input.
