Police Certificate Expire?

Hello,

I got my ITA on November 8. I got my Spanish (my country of origin) Police Certificate ahead of time because I knew it would take some time to translate it. The date on it is September 8th.

I had all my document ready to submit right when I got my ITA but then I realized that I would also need a Police Certificate from the USA because I spent there a little over 6 months in the last 10 years. I applied for it right away but according to the processing times it will most likely not be ready by the time my PR Application expires.

So now I will have to wait until my PR application is about to expire and submit everything then along with a LOE saying that I have already applied for a Police Certificate from USA.

I'm also going to fly to Spain for Christmas so I'm wondering now if by the time I submit all my documents (around Jan 31st), my Spanish Police Certificate will not be valid, because it will be almost 6 months old.

Does anyone know if I'm good or if I'll need a new one?

Thanks!

Your Spanish PCC is valid for 6 months if Spain is your current country of residence.

If it isn't your current country of residence then it is valid indefinitely as long as it was issued after the last time you lived in that country. Visiting Spain for Christmas could render your PCC invalid.

Thanks DelPiero07.

My country of residence is Canada, I'm here on a closed work permit. Spain is my country of birth.

Do you think I should get one in Spain while I'm visiting for Christmas just in case?

I'll be in Spain from mid December to mid January. Is it ok if I get it right when I get there, so the date on it would probably be something like Dec 20th. I need to make sure I have enough time to get the translation and all the legal stamps on it which will take about 2-3 weeks.

Thanks

No, I wouldn't recommend getting one there as it wouldn't cover the whole period until you leave the country. It really depends on whether you want to take the risk or not. Some applicants have been lucky, others not so much.

If I were to recommend something it would be to get it once you are back in Canada. You should also do the research on the outcome when applicants submitted their eAPR well before their ITA expired and who asked for an extension for the US PCC submission.
