I am a resident of B'lore, and haven't applied for a police certificate yet, but it shouldn't be difficult from what I have heard. BTW, congratulations if you have received your ITA!

Please see this link for more details: https://portal2.passportindia.gov.in/AppOnlineProject/online/pccOnlineApp

I just got my PCC done today along with my husband. For both of us it took around 1.5 hours.

We got ours done at Sai Arcade - Marathahalli.

Follow the below steps,

1. Book an appointment on the passportgov website. It will show you the earliest dates available. You will have to download the form, fill in the details and upload the form. If uploading is successful then you can go ahead with the booking of the appointment and the online payment for Rs. 500/-.
2. Once your payment is successful, you will need to take a print out of the PCC Application Receipt. Along with this, the following documents are required:
a) At least 2 copies of your ITA
b) 2 Self attested copies of your passport including your ECR sheet
c) 2 copies of your current address proof
3. Ensure that you reach the place before the appointment timing. Today they did not allow the processing of a few applicants as they came way past their appointment timing.
4. Wait in the normal queue. If all your documents are proper then he will hand over a file to you with a token and ask you to proceed to the applicant entry door.
5. Once you are through, then there is a waiting room where there will be LCD Screens showing the Token Number along with the counter number where they were required to proceed to. It hardly took 10 minutes of us waiting before we were sent to respective counter A, but please be alert to note when your Token number appears on the screen.
6. At the counter A , you will have to submit the file with the copies. The officer will ask for all the originals of the copies. They will also take your photo & fingerprints of both hands.
7. Once the application uploading & printing is completed at Counter A, the officer will send you to Counter B , where there again is an LCD with all Token numbers appearing. Once you're token number appears on the screen, please move to the respective counter. The officer at this counter will validate all documents and ask few questions if necessary. If all seems fine, then he will send you to Counter C
8. Counter C is the Granting counter. Again once your token number appears on the screen, please move to the respective counter and submit your file along with the original passport. My officer did not ask me any questions, just took the documents, entered the details on the computer & then asked me to stand aside and wait for 5 minutes.
9. In a few minutes, along with my passport I received 2 copies of the PCC duly signed by the respective Officer.
10. As you are exiting, you are required to submit the Token back at the exit, along with the feedback signed at the back of the Token. They will then hand you an acknowledgement sheet saying that you have been granted the PCC.

It was a very good and smooth process except for the havoc that is right outside at the initial counters where you receive your files at the onset.

Also, please note the below few points:

1. My current address is different from my passport address, but the proof that I was submitting was Aadhar card which was easily accepted. The passport office requires the complete Aadhar Card and not only the below portion. The photocopy also has to be taken the same way.
2. My husbands current address is also different from the passport address, but he did not have any proof for the address here in Bangalore, apart from the Rent Agreements. He decided to take a company letter as address proof, which was lucky for us since the Passport office does not encourage using Rental Agreements as Address Proofs. They took the original company letter to keep in their records.
3. There is a PCC letter that is also required to be submitted in the first counter. We got ours from the Photocopier who supplies the same.
4. If your passport is expiring anytime within the next 6 months, then please ensure that you renew your passport & then apply for the PCC. My husbands passport expires in January & the consultant had told us to do the PCC first & then get the passport renewed. Unfortunately, at the Passport Office, they made my husband sign a letter of declaration regarding the same.
5. If your passport shows that you are single & you are married now, then the Passport office will change your status to single as the PCC will get done only on the basis of the current Passport details.
6. Also, when your spouse is getting the PCC done, please ensure that she/he carries along with original marriage certificate along with them as the ITA will only contain the name of the Principal Applicant and not the dependent. The Marriage certificate is the only proof that you can show that you are married to the Principal Applicant.

I hope the above post clarifies all your questions/doubts. Please feel free to ask me any clarifications.

Thanks,
Avanti

Thanks Avanti. This is a very detailed information and I can't thank you enough.

I had queries around my passport having an address outside Bangalore and only company letter head and rent agreement as address proof in Bangalore. You have solved every single point. Thanks again.

Is this process for getting PCC same for all towns in India ?

I think it will be same across all Passport offices

I had done my PCC recently and at Counter B they asked for proof why PCC is required. I told them iam applying for immigration and as part of documentation its required. I can only provide the proof of PCC requirement as mentioned in the Website of CIC. The officer at Counter B was adamant first and then later gave me a go go for counter C :)

This is the most detailed description of the entire PCC process. Thanks for sharing Avanti.

I have a question for anyone who can help. My wife moved in with me after we got married in May this year. She's originally from Mumbai and got her passport from Mumbai in March this year. We both don't have any address proof for Bangalore other than our respective company issued letters (I have a rent agreement for 2013 which was valid only for 1 year. Never renewed it). So my question is: Will my wife be able to get her PCC from Bangalore with me or does she need some clearance from Mumbai also, considering she's been in Bangalore for less than year?

An address proof is required, if your passport address is not the same as your residence address. The list of documents that are valid proofs is given in the passport site: https://portal2.passportindia.gov.in/AppOnlineProject/online/pccOnlineApp

Please see that list and get a valid address proof arranged. Your wife also requires an address proof and the FAQ in that site clarifies what kind she needs.

The key point - anyone going for PCC in Banglore (guess all over India), MUST carry ITA letter as they ask for a document stating the reason why PCC is required.
Rest depending on your luck, PCC may be issued the same day (specially if address on the passport is the same as the current address) or may be issued post police verification (where address is different). If you are lucky, officer may issue the PCC same day considering the last Police verification even when the address is different.

Note:
Document adviser tool does not give a complete list of documents to be carried.

I got my PCC certificate from PSK in Marathahalli last week. The quoted statement is generally true, but I worked around it. I was told by the guys there that a ITA letter is required and its print out need to be attached. I just took a print out of the general CIC page that says Police Certification is required for express entry application, and this got passed in PSK, A and B sections.

In Section C, the officer refused to accept this print out, and said a letter personally sent to the individual that asks them to apply (basically, ITA mail) is required. But his "kindness" overcame this requirement, and he issued a PCC for me and mywife, after 10 minutes.

I don't think all officers are so kind to overrule this. So its probably safe to take a printout of a mail that once gets from CIC.

Guys

This is crazy. Counter C babus are just acting pricey.
There is no such thing for PCC.
Only the standard address proofs are required.
I got my PCC done from Delhi before ITA, no questions asked.

Thank you very much for such a detailed explanation, I have written my IELTS again to increase my score from 430, if I get though will have to get the PCC done and your information has been very helpful to me. Thank you again!

I have got it done from Commissioner's office as per instruction from CIC page.

I got mine from PSK at Sai Arcade... I had my passport renewed as well from the same location a year back.

If your address in your passport is same as your current address then its ok just have copies of your passport and ITA.. else you need an address proof.

I got mine the same day.. it took me 45 mins from entering to exit.

All the best to rest.
