Hello everyone.

My country of origin is Mauritius and I already have a police certificate from there issued on January 24th. But I still haven't sent my application yet.

In the guide it says: "The certificate must have been issued no more than 3 months prior to submitting your application".

So we are now in May which means it has expired.

BUT on the recent Document Checklist form, on number 14, it says: "Police certificated are generally considered to be valid for 1 year from date of issue; therefore depending on the processing time of your application, you may be requested to submit new certificates".

Can someone clarify? I need to request a new one?

Lol something similar happened to me last year. I am from Mauritius too! Anyways mine expired 8 months before i got all my letters of reference, t4s , etc... and at that time, there was no 1 year validity for the police certificate on the document checklist. There was only the 3 months on the instructions guide. Therefore I did not want to take a risk and I sent them a new police certificate.

Well about yours, it is only 4 months old, i think it should be fine, but don't take my word for it though. Call CIC and ask their opinion?

Yes, they are valid for 1 year from the date of issue but at the time you submit your application it should not have been issued more than 3 months ago. Yours is over 3 months old now... you can chance it and send your application with it or play it safe and get a new one.

Thank you for your reply SenoritaBella! :)
Yeah to be on the safe side, better issue a new one. I don't want to risk anything at this point of time. :)
