Hi guys
Think of trying for a vist visa for christmas with an invite from hubby to be's Canadian Great Aunt. If we are sucessful in getting him into Canada we plan on inland application.

My question is 1)should we get his medical and police checks done before he comes (we could alwys say we thought he needed them in case he was interviewed for his tourist visa can{t we?) 2)How long are these (police and medical checks) valid for? 3)if we don't do them before can we do them in Canda? 3)How? espcially in regards to the police check) Also 4) how long does it take to get these so we can send in our PR application ASAP.... 5) (do we even send them in with thapplication or should we wait till they ask for it?)
Sorry for being so new!!
THanks in advance!

I suggest just get them once you get into Canada. Most embassies will help you out with the police clearance (maybe other members from Guatemala that have done this can confirm?) Not sure how long it will take. But maybe you can check your embassy's website? As for the medical, you can do it with a designated practitioner that's close to where you live in Canada. It's typically faster when you send everything all at the same time but since it's an inland application, you might have to renew things once or twice.

Good Luck!!

No. I don't think they'll count that against you.

Police cert expire in 3 months. If he/she gets the visit visa sucessfully you can do the inland app and get the medicals done here, The police report will still have to come from his home.

How to obtain a police certificate
Guatemala
Do I need to provide a police certificate when applying for permanent residence?
Yes. Applicants need to provide two certificates: the Certificado de Antecedentes Policíacos and the Constancia de Carencia de Antecedentes Penales.

How and where do I obtain one?
The Certificado de Antecedentes Policíacos is issued by the Comisarías de la Policía Nacional Civil, located in the capital city. Applicants must present in person the original and a legible photocopy of their Cédula de Vecindad, and pay the applicable fees. Foreign residents must, in addition, present the original and a legible photocopy of their passport and take the certificate to the Legal Bureau of the Civil National Police Headquarters in Guatemala City for legalization (6a. Ave. 14 Calle zona 1). Applicants should apply to one of the following Comisarías de la Policía Nacional Civil:

No. 11: 11 Ave. 4-01 zona 1. Telephone: 2238-0794
No. 12: 16 Ave. 14-00 zona 6. Telephone: 2254-4239
No. 13: 29 Calle 13-36 zona 5, San Pedrito. Telephone: 2331-0203 and 2334-3158
No. 16: Calzada San Juan 1-67 zona 7 de Mixco. Telephone: 2431-3422 or 2431‑3313
Delegación Policía Nacional – Comisaría Modelo: 12 Ave. 7-51, Z. 1, Col. San Miguelito, Villa Nueva. Telephone: 6636-3479

The Constancia de Carencia de Antecedentes Penales may be obtained from the Bureau of Criminal Background (Unidad de Antecedentes Penales) of the Supreme Court of Justice. There is an office located in the capital city (see below) and in the majority of departments of the country. Nationals and residents of Guatemala must present their original Cédula de Vecindad. Foreigners must present their valid passport showing their legal status in the country. If applicants are unable to personally request this certificate, the document may be requested by a lawyer who has been authorized by the applicant. The lawyer must submit the applicant’s original identification document.
