I am Nikhil Sharma, I need a Guidance on Express entry. My wife is eligible to apply in Express entry. However, I am confused on one point "Relative in Canada" My sister she is in Canada for last few year. I would like to know that do we can take an advantage for that in order to improve out possibility in Pool?

Do we get extra point for relative in Canada (Express Entry)

There is no advantage under EE CRS (1200 ponits system) though you'll get additional points if invited to FSW stream(100 points grid).

Yes. Actually there is a minimum 67 out of 100 points requirement for FSW stream. Check CIC website and do the math to see if you need relative points to pass the criteria. I suggest you to calculate both scenarios using FSW system and in case both passed the requirements, go for the one having higher points in EE pool.

For CEC stream there is absolute zero difference.

That's right. To be eligible for EE, you have to be eligible first on one of the immigration streams (eg. FSW). So if you have Canadian citizen/resident relative, you can get points in FSW and might help you reach 67 out of 100 that makes you eligible for EE.

But then, once you enter the EE pool, you won't get any points for having a Canadian relatives. You have to rely on other factors such as your skills, education, language, work experience.

Express Entry candidates may be awarded points for having a family member living in Canada

This is from CIC

Where does your sister live and do you intend to settle in the same Province? If so, look into the Provincial Nomination Programme for that Province. If you plan to settle elsewhere, having family in a different Province can be a "risk factor" and result in decreased points.

0 is the answer.

There are election promises to give points for Canadian siblings, but it hasn't materialize yet.

in my opinion i think points will be given and that means that there would be an increase rank system( people between 300-400 would be placed between 400 and 500 and so on......) and that would require more ITAs to be issued in each draw, so i think they are getting ready for that since the announced the target for this year... in my opinion continue with your regular lives and keep searching for other options until they implement this new measure and lets hope for the best.

IRCC don't need to artificially raise the ITA bar before making changes

IRCC controls the # ITA in every draw. If they change the rules (int'l grads, sublings, etc.) to make large number people higher in score, then the pool becoems more top heavy and the required rank for ITA will also raise

I heard that amendments in immigration laws are being proposed for points for relative in Canada? anyone have info regarding this news?

There is election promise talked about points for siblings. But those are just election promises and means nothing

Let's just put it this way, having a relative in Canada can help you qualify and get into the EE pool, but it will not increase your CRS score which is the ITA based on.
