Hello everyone,
Just want to confirm that the point that you can earn from your work experience is now based on the 38-list and not on the total number of year you been working?
Example: I am working for 10yrs total for different job titles (Programmer,College Instructor,Web Designer) now only
my 'College Instructor' job was on the 38-list and I only work for 2yrs as an Instructor. Would that mean
that I would only get 17points instead of 21 out of my experience(based on one job)?
Or I can still claim 21pts since I have a 10 years working experience, regardless of.
CONFUSED!!!

Leon please shed a light or anybody who have know how to explain this....

Thank you so much!

1. You have to have 1 year experience in one of the jobs on the list.
2. All your experience will be counted in the 10 year period where the job was at A,B or O level in the NOC>

Would be the same story, my score will go down from 21 to 17 and eventually will not qualify for 67 points.

I only have 3 as mentioned and unfortunately the points I will be getting still short for 67 passing score.

I'd really like to know as well.........cuz i was thinking of taking french classes to make up my points because i was thinking they would fall because they would only give points based on the experience in one of the 38 occupations.

Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
It says in the instructions that they give points for all 0,A or B skilled jobs. You only need to have 1 year in one of the 38 jobs to qualify but they give points for all.

Hi Leon,
What do u mean give points for all jobs. You mean even for those jobs that is not on 38-list?
For example, I have a "Instructor" job for 2 years equivalent to 17points aside from the fact that is being on the 38-list.
Now, the rest of my work experiences are Web Designer(2yrs) & Software Engineer(4yrs). How many points you think I could get?

Note: I am running after the 67 points which I got before the new 38-list. Now I only have 17points for my work experience instead of 21 pts. Do you think I can still extract some points from my other work experiences which are not in the 38-list, in order for me to come up with the passing 67pts?

Please comment.

Thank you.

no, not for "all jobs", only for jobs that are in the NOC 0, A and B categories.

If I understood correctly, as long as you have 0,A or B skilled jobs you will get points for those, provided at least one of them should be on the list of 38 AND you should have at least 1 year of experience on that job.

It is NOT NECESSARY that the PRESENT ONE should be on the list of 38, this could be any of the previous jobs.

Am I right?

Hi rupeshhari,

Thanks for the reply, I understand what you mean, but since I have work for only 1 year (college instructor = 12 pts ) and the rest of my work experiences will not be counted since it is not on the 38-list, what I am understanding is I will only get 12 pts out of my work experiences for my work as an Instructor the rest are 0 pts, since I cannot get any point from being a web developer. I am right?? Please explain if Im not..

Thank you so much.

Ok...shed me a light once more, I think this is were I am messing up:
You mean jobs that are in NOC A,B & O is not the same list with 38?
38 are just 38-list and NOC Type A,B,O are more jobs listed.
AM I CORRECT? :)

That is the way I understand it too plus there is one thing about IELTS changed point calculations. If you didn't apply before Nov 28 or didn't take IELTS before Nov 28, you will be graded on the new rules for IELTS which are actually more lenient.
