Points Calculation for Work Experience

Guys,

I have a question related to points calculation for Work Experience. Suppose, you have 2 years of work experience as a engineering manager(0211), I understand you are eligible to apply. Apart from this 2 years, if you have experience with other job titles, will that be counted towards the points required. Assuming, the other experiences/job title are provided in the NOC list.

For example, consider a person with 2 years of exp as engineering manager and 3 years of exp as education researcher (NOC: 4166), which is not listed on the eligible occupations. Can this person claim points for 5 years of experience? Or can he only claim for 2 years of experience.

Answer to your question is provided in Instruction guide (IMM 7000). As you can see it says: "You will receive points for the number of years of full-time paid work (or the equivalent in part-time paid work) you have obtained within the last ten years. Full-time means at least 30 hours of paid work in one week."

To be eligible to apply for FSW "You must have at least one year of continuous full-time, paid work experience (or the equivalent in continuous part-time work) in the primary occupation you specify in your application. "

"In order to receive points for all of the jobs you have had over the past ten years, your work experience must be in one or more occupations listed in Skill Type 0, Skill Level A or B of NOC 2011.".


In other words: If you have one year of continuously paid full time work experience in one of the eligible occupations + continuous full time work experience in occupations NOC A, B or 0, you will get points for all.

That's right. The main point is - your work experience must be classified! If you have work experience in a field that cannot be classified and given a proper code - you won't get points for that.
