where did you hear this story "somewhere long ago?" of course, there is always a far-off chance that the border protection people will turn you away but usually, this is in uncommon circumstances.

Relax For most students, going through immigration at point of entry is relatively easy. As I said, they will only ask you routine questions and you shouldn't have to worry if your visa and paperwork are all legit. I didn't even need to show my financial documents, only my passport, my letter of acceptance and tuition fee receipt. (It is still best to have all your docs with you, to be sure. Keep your docs in a folder and have them with you when you go down at your POE). If you act paranoid and nervous, then you will attract some doubt as to your intentions -- like a self-fulfilling prophecy right? Seriously, just relax. And actually, the people at the Toronto Pearson Airport were actually quite pleasant, and I arrived late at night

they may but they dont expect an accurate answer. Like for me I said I will be staying in a hotel and then look for an apartment. Just give an honest answer nothing to be worried about.

I read somewhere long ago some students were made to wait at Canadian airport for many hours and then sent back to India because the officer "felt" they will work illegally instead of studying...is this true?

How often does this happen?
Why/when does this happen?

Any precautions we can take to not fall into such a trap?

If you are a legit student, if you are really going to Canada for studies, if all your documents are legit, then don't worry. Answer their questions correctly and truthfully and you won't have any problems.

Would it be wise if I show my latest Letter of Admission to immigration officer and request him to provide study permit based on that ? I know I can do it using MyCiC account but then again that would take a long process. One more thing to add, is Airport Immigration Officer aware of which institution I have applied for visa or they just print out study permit based on the offer letter presented to them on that spot. Thank You.

When you apply for Study Visa, you have to send the Offer Letter of the institution with the other documents, right? So they know on which institution you are going to.

Well I am talking about Airport Immigration officer ! Because as far as I know, they provide study permit based on the offer letter presented before them on that spot. Am I right ?
