As a non-resident account holder you can open Savings Account, once landed you can change according to your requirements, initially day to day would be better for yousalmanahm said:Dear Kanamen
Which account do you recommend to newly landed immigrant ?
1- RBC Day to Day banking account with $4/month fee and 15 Debits
2- RBC no limit banking $10.95 /mth fee.
OR
3- Saving account.
I am planning to open online account after confirmation of PR.
I think that would save the foreign currency Demand draft charges which we take with us while landing

Hi members, devilhimselff said:The online option says.... Open and account and visit the Branch for Activation.
Just had a chat with an agent and you can just open the Account BUT not activate it.
According to her, there is no way to do this. SO I guess, its gonna be landing and then opening....Useless to do anything from here for the time beingBooooHooo!!!!
CHAT COMMENTS:
Agent:
"You can start the account opening process online and the account will be in effect after you arrive in Canada and present the branch with your ID and signature"
Me:
"Cause the idea was to open an account from here and transfer the money to the account prior to Landing. But I guess will visit the branch"
Agent:
"Yes, the account will not be active until you visit the branch in person"
Yes ,so far it will be open for deposit only ,once landed you will get regular a/c service.Chami said:Hi members,
when u open an account while abroad, after contacting RBC representative via e-mail, u have to send them notarized (by those companies which they deal with)copies of 2 Ientifications along with requested documents. All should be mailed to Canada. When verification is done they will open a regular or investment account for you, which u have to activate after arriving to Canada. That means, acct is active for deposits only (wire trfs into the acct), for other operations u have to come in person into the chosen city branch with landing papers and that's it.
