Hi all,
I'm currently applying for EE. I have a joint account with my girlfriend whom I live with in Canada (she is a Canadian citizen) both of our parents and herself have given money into this account to hit the $12,000 mark for proof of funds. We have lived together for less than a year so we are not common law yet. My question is can I use this joint account if we're not spouse officially or would it be better to transfer the money into my account, get the bank letter and transfer the money back afterwards?
Thank you very much.

Unless your spouse would be accompanying you, joint account won't be encouraged (which is the case since your spouse is already a canadian citizen).
Your best bet is transfer the required amount to your account, get a gift deed and notarize, provide a bank certificate along with 6month bank statement to substantiate your claim.

That makes sense, thank you very much for your response, I really appreciate it.
