Hi Guys,

I am landing in July 2018 and I have a question regarding POF to show on Airport. Can I transfer the money to my brother's account in Canada and show it as POF with proof of transfer? If Yes, then Do My brother need to make a Notarized declaration that the funds are received for POF purpose and I can use those fund once I will land in Canada?

Please advise.

Very interesting question and I understand that practically you would need to have a funds to settle, but could you point to the official requirement to actually show POF in Canada for landing? And recommended amount of funds? Is is set in stone?

What if am carrying cash which is more than the minimum requirements?

Is it question about to carry more than $10,000 (discussed million times on forum) or something else?
What are "the minimum requirements?"

IRCC has minimum requirements for how much money you need to have to settle, there is a table for how much money one person, two persons and so on need to have so they can settle. The POF is required so CBSA officer at the time of landing need to ensure you meet the funds requirements. People usually carry with them small amount of cash, and show a bank statement or any other instruments to the officer to prove they have the required funds. The question is, if I carry an amount which is more than minimum that IRCC stated on its website, would I still need to show statement of account?
I know very well the 10,000CAD stuff

Usually they just ask you if you are carrying more than 10k in cash. I have not come across any situation in which they question the source of funds, etc if the amount was over 10k.
You can also get a travellers cheque from your home country.
