Hi guys, Sorry to create a new topic on this but I need your advice on something. I received my ITA back in march 27th in fsw (I did put 12k as fund available, I did not know at the time it was that complicated regarding valid job offer for CIC. I am on a pgwp, I thought, it will be easy since I have a full time job here in Canada

I have a join account with my girlfriend but unfortunately we are not common law and I am doing my application as single since we don't meet the requirement for common law yet (never lived at the same address for 1 year etc...)

Anyway here is the complicated part, I have been receiving my salary in this account for more than 6 months and my girlfriend too. I just received a gift from my father (the official documentation is available) I already put this money in the join account, plus my salary and her salary as well we have about 16k (12k for me).

Will it be an issue to use this account as pof? If yes, what should I do? It is the only active account I have right now. At the bank they gave me the letter under my name only plus a 6 months statement (all transactions in the account appear clearly).

Please let me know what you think. I am really sad and I think I will decline my invitation :( ...

It is fine, as long as your name is on the account. Your bank letter sounds like what you need.

erm, if you are sharing an account with your gf you are kind of common law anyway and may be an issue as you are declaring yourself as single when you clearly have a partner. Can you not take her off the account for now so she can set up her own for when you submit the proof of funds? Might be cleaner.

Hi guys, thanks for replying. But by declaring commonlaw, one should prove it right. But one of the main requirement is live at the same address for 1 year, declare tax together etc... If I can have the document from my father's gift, do you think CIC will bother to check where I did put that moneyÉ

in my personal opinion, there shouldn't be any problem if the letter only states your name. on the other hand, statements might posses some issues. does it have both of yours name? transactions will reveal your gf's payroll deposit as well. quick solution, ask your bank to include last six months balance in the letter.

please keep in mind that nobody here is sure how CIC verifies documents including proof of funds or how thorough the investigation is. they might very well have a checklist of questions for issuing authority to verify a document such as letter of financial profile and one of the questions might be, is this/or any account joint?

to be on safe side, if possible, have $24K in account or the better option is to open another sole account with same institution and transfer the required funds, and attach statements for the existing account as well showing the transaction that money was transferred from one of your other accounts, and the funds in joint account were saved over the time. by doing so, this take care of very basic question, which is, whether you have full ownership of $12K or not. this way, you are being truthful with CIC and not misrepresenting anything. make sure to request your bank for a new letter if you proceed in this direction.

if it helps, i'm a senior banker with one of the top 5 banks in canada. good luck my friend! thank you.
