POF after getting PR at landing to the border officer

Hi all,

Do you have to show any POF after getting PR at landing, to the border officer?
If yes then you have to show the bank statement of last six months?

They might ask to see if you maintained the min balance while your app was in. Otherwise they might just ask for recent bank statement...or they might not ask at all.

Thanks Kryton. Some people on this forum have said that POF at landing can only be in form of cash, TC etc... not bank statement.

Hi guys

I am in a similar situation. About to go for a short soft landing (before my visa expiration and will go back for good) and don't have the amount of money I sent to CIC 9 months ago.

What should I do? Do they really ask about POF? For sure I will not have 10.000 CAD. A lot less considering I will be staying for 2weeks only. I still want my PR to be sent. Thanks.

When you land you are "immigrating". You will have +$10,000 in money (not cash). You have to have that to land. So declare it :)

What about it? You just have to have the cash you need for the 2 week trip and a bank statement showing you have enough landing funds just in case.

Make sure the landing card is answered yes to having plus $10,000

I thought you have to have all the money with you in this moment.

It's giving you the methods you can bring money in not saying you have to bring it in in those forms.
 
You'll need to bring at most CAD 10,000 in cash and the rest of the amount can be in bank draft.

There is no rule at all that says this. But if you're referring to the CAD 10,000+ that has to be declared at customs...well, even bank drafts have to be declared if the total amount in various monetary instruments physically on you (cash, bank draft, traveler's checks, etc.) is over CAD 10k.

Source: I did it. I brought X,000 CAD in cash, and the rest in a bank draft, so my total surpassed 10,000.
 
Hi,

I recently landed as PR *yay!* at the Carway Port of Entry in Alberta.
They did not ask about proof of funds.

It also depends under which category you applied. For CEC outland Express Entry I did not have to show proof of funds in my application.

It is, however, always a good idea to bring a bank statement.
I am a little confused as to why it is for two weeks though?

I never said it was a rule :)
My point was that you have to breakdown the pof to better declare whatever you will be bringing.

OK fine, but the way you wrote it was very ambiguous. Just be careful and clarify if you are stating a guideline or opinion.
And it's also fine to bring less than 10k and say you'll be wiring the rest later, for example.
