Folks!,
Can you please help me answer few questions.
-I have full time job offer in ON, Canada and I have completed 1 yrs working Experience too.
-IELTS score 6
- work Visa valid till end of 2014

Can you please tell me following:

1. which category is faster(or better for me )for Canadian PR and approx how much time it take? PNP or CEC?

2. I am getting married in Feb 2013, should I apply right now? or wait till I get married, because its just 5-6 month left. If I apply now, can adding my wife's name later on can delay our process?

Your response will be much appreciated.

Thanks

Based on your case, I would strongly recommend going for the CEC option. Why?

1. If you apply under PNP with a job offer, you have to stay in your job until you get your PR. What if you don't like your job, or something happens that would compel you to leave your job, or if you get fired? You would have to start the PR process again. I tell you, it's difficult to be stuck in a job you don't like just because you're waiting for your PR. You don't have to have a job offer when applying under CEC; you simply need the 24 months of skilled work experience. You can even apply even if you've left your job, as long as you have the 24 months and you apply within one year of having left your job.
2. Based on the current trend, it appears that CEC applications are being processed faster than PNP applications. Check out the forums here and trackitt.com; you will see that a bigger number of CEC applicants who applied in January/February 2012 have been getting their PPRs already even back in July, whereas PNP January 2012 applicants are only starting to get theirs!
3. If you apply now for PR and get married in February 2013, it might complicate your application. Why not get married, while waiting to complete your 24-month requirement for CEC, then apply as a married guy?
4. You said you already completed one year of working experience -- is it in Canada? If so, just wait one more year and apply under CEC. I feel that it's a simpler process with less hassle. It's incredibly difficult to be depending on a job offer for PR.

Thank you so much for the reply :)

I came here as a student and worked in Canada for past 1 yrs. I checked that international students with 1 yrs Canadian experience can apply for CEC too. Please correct me if I am wrong?

So as per your suggestion, I should be good to apply for PR in Feb 2013.

Thanks again,
Have a good day!

Well that's an even better option! Check this page out for the complete requirements for CEC under the graduate stream: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/cec/graduates.asp

Thanks a ton :)

-one more open ended question: I also found that there will be changes in CEC rule Jan 2013. Should I be concern or worry? Are there any major changes coming?

Thanks

These proposed changes are for those applying under the CEC worker stream... which actually made it better for us: instead of having to have 24 months of work experience, you will only have to have 12 months. Aint that amazing! I hope it comes into reality soon.

Just a note, you are allowed to file two (or more) applications concurrently. You can apply under the PNP and the CEC at the same time, sending two complete separate applications. It will cost you the additional application fee (and costs associates with having two copies of everything). However it is an option.

You will just need to withdraw the other application once you receive a passport request (i.e. the application is approved). That way, you can benefit from whichever one is faster.

Well im in ontario and with PNP ontario I read u still need )A full-time job offer, for which they are qualified, from an approved Ontario employer in a skilled occupation (listed as NOC A, B, or 0) :s...so that still makes my job unskilled :( bcz it falls under level C. i think everything else is fine i meet the requirmetns with Job Offer Stream category under international student category. But, i still dont think i can apply for PNP bcz when i graduated from college with 2 years diploma of business accounting i right away applied for post graduate work permit n that is expiring in 2014.
