Dear Fellows,

Can some one help me with following?

1- Proof of funds: how much and in which form(cash, DD etc)?
2- What should be taken care during first entry to Canada? Please share any lessons learned.
3- My wife is expecting, how I can get insurance for her?
4- Now a days, how much time Ontario takes to send you PR card ?

Any other tips related to traveling and landing at Toronto.

With Regards
Khurram
Dear Khurram,
Sorry for late reply, now I days very much busy :)

In canada pregnancy is not consider as decease etc, therefore no private insurance will cover it. Better to reconfirm from any other source as well.

OHIP eligibility will only starts after 90 days of your landing etc. within 90 days you have to contribute your all charges.
Just for your information in canada delivery charges are between 8000 to 12000, depend on different conditions etc.
After getting OHIP no need to pay for any charges :)
I will recommend to come as earliest to get eligible for OHIP.

If need any additional info then let me know.

For other questions I think you have already got answers.

Best of luck.

Congrats aashamsi and laurence

wish you good luck for next step :)

Thanks everyone for their wishes :)

I am currently in Canada and they have requested to send to ADVO however it's illegal to send Pakistani passport outside country (through courier), I sent email to consider this limitation , let see :)

Hi aashamsi,

The above is your impression only or has any courier company refused to carry your passports. I think the rule about sending Pakistani passport through mail being illegal (which by the way is printed on the inside of the PP booklet) is only enforceable in situations where you are sending the passports from/or to Pakistan and hence it will need to go through Pakistani customs who will implement the rule. If you are sending passport across other countries' borders, the rule will not be applied. cheers.

Dear Shamsi,

I checked with my brother, he is not sure which courier he used as he went to some place where multiple courier companies were handled by one person. Secodly he did not send passport for visa stamping but his family was here and they lost their Pakistani origin card for which he sent the passport.

However you can send your passport to any of your friends here in Dubai and he can submit them using Aramex and can add return airway bill no. Did you receive reply from Canadian High Commission for your email?

I confirmed with another friend he told me that sending Pakistani PP from/to Pakistan is not allowed else its fine.

Regards
Khurram

hopefully the ADVO will provide the Medical request... :D waiting time is really long patience is a must hehe.

aashamsi/kkurram1,

A problem can potentially arise at the time of return if the PPs are submitted through a friend in UAE as ADVO/Aramex may not be willing to handover the PPs to a person other than the applicant himself. I suggest you wait a few more days for further instructions from ADVO. If there is no reply from ADVO then you can think of sending some sort of an authorization letter to your friend to receive the passports back after visa stamping. I've seen a discussion on this topic from some Indian applicants based in US sending passports to New Delhi/Colombo visa offices. cheers,

hey lawrence did they ask you to attach return airway bill as well??

yes, i sent my passports yesterday to ADVO via aramex courier from their Main branch on King Abdulaziz Road near Kingdom School, Riyadh. I placed a pre-paid return airway bill in the package so that ADVO can send the stamped passports back in a secure way.
