it takes time mostly in complicated cases specially when there is a divorce. was there any complications with your friends case?
No, nothing 30 years old, married, with one children, never been abroad and never related with criminal, military or ao on. Even never change the job and still working as carpenter during the last 10 years.

If it is FIRST GU, You may wait 1-3-6 month or more time. Normally before PPR people get 2 GU.
First GU mean - your application sent to CSIS for security check, Second GU - mean completes this process.

Thanks, but I think this was my second, I had one before too. but I passed the background check, its just the wait for final decision rest all eligibility criteria is done.

Your file at Sydney or Ottawa?

if you read the AOR they clearly mentioned that applicant only contact when they asked to otherwise it will delay it.. I think you should better read it carefully

I think you need to read it again . it says about answering emails , nothing about a phone call.

Do you remember when you got the first GU update ?
I wanted to know long it took for them to do the security ?

To be honest I don't even remember when I got it. I don't usually check my application frequently. For an estimate I passed my medical in end may and got passed my background check yesterday, starting of October. 4 months I would say.

Call them to know your status about background (criminality , security) and eligibility , you already got your pre arrival letter so you might have passed Eligibility .
Security is the last stage though , when you pass security , your file is moved for final review and then youre issued PPR.

It’s better to call them I got PAL on 22 Aug but my security didn’t started till now.
When you call them ask them if you passes criminality and security
Bcoz you must have passed medical and eligibility as you got a PAL.

8882422100 and dial 2224 it’s quick that way

Thanks
